How many ADA lawsuits are actually being filed? Most numbers in circulation are hard to check. These aren’t: this page counts civil cases filed in US federal district courts under the ADA’s non-employment nature-of-suit code, straight from public court records, and every number links to the query that produced it.

Methodology
- What is counted. Civil cases filed in US federal district courts under nature-of-suit code 446, “Americans with Disabilities — Other” — the code covering non-employment ADA suits. That includes both website-accessibility suits and physical-premises suits; the code does not distinguish between them, and we don’t guess. State-court cases are not included.
- Source. The CourtListener/RECAP archive of federal court records, run by the non-profit Free Law Project. A filing appears in our counts only once it reaches that archive, so true totals are higher than any number on this page, and recent months rise for weeks after they end — we mark those provisional rather than publishing them as final.
- Reproducibility. Every count links to the public search that produced it. If you run a query and see a higher number than we show, the archive has received more records since our last refresh — that is the expected direction of drift.
- What we leave out. Party names. No defendants, no plaintiffs, no law firms — this page reports the volume of filings, not who is involved in them.
- Platforms and widgets. We tried to break a month of these filings down by e-commerce platform and accessibility widget, and stopped when most of the month turned out to be unclassifiable. There is no such number on this site, and the method and the full funnel are published anyway.
